Composting with Pallets

Tip: Do not compost ON pallets as above, compost should make contact

with the ground. Worms are not able to migrate up to the feeding material.

For your classroom, another way to get into composting is this GREAT resource for the composter: Vermicomposting (Worm Guide)

  • Contact your city or county entity to request compost or worm bins - at their cost; they want you to RECYCLE!  I was able to get 5 bins for my composting project! The County was very generous and willing to help.

  • They also sent some lesson resources for the classroom, I use them to educate students about composting. Search for your county or city entity or for items related to composting here:

Here is another great composting education site: The Cornell Composting Website  developed by Tom Richard, Nancy Trautmann, Marianne Krasny, Sue Fredenburg and Chris Stuart.
